If you think skipping breakfast will help you lose weight, then you are dead wrong.  Eating a healthy breakfast can help you lose weight.  You will also have enough energy to sustain you through lunch and to get your day off to a great start.

After you wake up in the morning, your body will crave for some sustenance because you have fasted for several hours during your sleep time.  At mid-morning, you will be prone to grab a candy bar or a cup of coffee just to keep yourself energized.

This is very unhealthy and could lead to faster weight gain.  Because your body did not have its fill of energy-giving foods in the morning, you will feel sluggish at work which could adversely affect your productivity.

So it is very important to maintain a good habit to eat healthy foods after you wake up in the morning.  You can have carbohydrates because this will provide the necessary energy in order to keep you alert throughout the day.  Whole meal or wheat breads are good sources of carbohydrates.  Just make sure to skip the butter or any high calorie spreads.

You have to make sure also that your breakfast will be low on fat and rich in fiber.  A high fiber cereal would be best plus some bananas or dried apricots to make your breakfast tasty.  It is also advisable if you can prepare fruit salad for your breakfast.

Fruits provide slower energy release that is why your body will be always alert and energized until lunch time.  Because your body has its fill of sugar and carbohydrates, you will not crave for unhealthy snacks such as junk chips, chocolates, or candies.

It is also best to have some boiled or poached eggs and/or turkey bacon so you will have some protein in your breakfast.  Proteins are food for the muscles which can make you leaner.

Eating healthy foods at breakfast is critical if you want to lose weight or maintain your weight.  Skipping meals, especially breakfast, to lose weight is a misconception.  You will also have more energy in the morning if you regularly eat breakfast.  Your body and mind will be more alert and active in the morning which will sustain you through the next meal.
